The Academic Career Advisor is responsible for providing academic advising and career coaching, working closely with undergraduate students to build relationships and offer both one-on-one and group guidance. A significant portion of the role involves daily interaction with students, offering writing support, attending to the center's operational needs, and providing direct services. Under the supervision of the center’s director, the individual also assists student assistants in their roles as peer educators and participates in targeted academic support campaigns aimed at improving students' academic writing skills. Additionally, they refer students to appropriate campus resources as needed.

Academic Counselor - (Student Services Professional III) - College Advising San Francisco
The Academic Counselor provides comprehensive academic counseling to help undergraduate students achieve their academic, personal and career goals. This position works on a college advising team (Lam Family College of Business, College of Ethnic Studies, College of Liberal and Creative Arts, College of Health and Social Sciences, College of Science and Engineering, or the Graduate College of Education) within the Undergraduate Advising Center and advises students from their third through graduation. The incumbent collaborates with faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure student retention and success from entry through graduation. The Academic Counselor delivers general advising services, advises at new student orientations, participates in student retention and graduation initiatives, and offers academic success workshops. The Academic Counselor assists students in exploring, affirming, and declaring into a major, identifying strengths and interests, and overcoming academic and personal challenges. Additionally, the Academic Counselor helps students understand SF State’s campus policies and procedures and graduation requirements (general education and major/minor). The Academic Counselor is responsible for providing consistent, accurate, complex, advising to undergraduate students. Working independently, the Academic Counselor provides individual and group counseling that requires the use of advising and counseling techniques to evaluate students’ academic interests and to facilitate major and career exploration. The Academic Counselor assists students in setting goals to facilitate success, persistence, and timely degree completion. In addition, the incumbent independently leads, develops, plans, implements, and evaluates advising-related projects that support SF State students.

This position is assisting the Trust Fund Lead Accountant and under the supervision of the Trust Fund Associate Controller. It involves performing intermediate-level professional tasks that apply accounting principles to address a variety of functions or challenges related to grants, contracts, and trust funds. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and involves independently managing a full range of accounting responsibilities. Key duties include monitoring accounts receivable, reconciling accounts, recording accounting transactions, identifying and resolving issues, recommending solutions, providing training, and delivering accounting services to the campus community in accordance with established policies, procedures, and general accounting standards.
