Overview:

Reporting to the Fiscal Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst will provide critical support in financial analysis, grant monitoring, and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing comprehensive financial reports, supporting the budget development process, and ensuring grant compliance across programs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed financial analyses to support decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and analyze grant expenditures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local funder requirements. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of current federal, state, and local grant regulations to ensure organizational compliance.
  • Interpret and implement new government regulations affecting grant management.
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasting models to project future financial needs.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal leadership and external stakeholders. Support the budget development process through analysis of historical data and future projections.
  • Assist with grant financial management, including budget development and monitoring.
  • Perform variance analyses between budgeted and actual expenses.
  • Prepare financial documentation for audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement systems to track program outcomes against financial investments.
  • Provide technical assistance to program staff regarding financial matters.
  • Support the development of cost allocation methodologies across multiple funding sources.
  • Assist with special projects and analyses as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with grant financial management and reporting.
  • Knowledge of federal and state grant requirements and compliance.
  • Proficiency in financial forecasting and budget development.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software.
  • Experience with cost accounting methodologies preferred.

 

Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Strong understanding of financial principles and practices in a nonprofit environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local grant requirements including OMB Uniform Guidance, GAAP, and specific funder compliance regulations.
  • In-depth understanding of federal and state financial reporting requirements and deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Problem-solving aptitude with a proactive approach.
  • Understanding of cost allocation principles and methodologies.
  • Commitment to the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an ethnically, linguistically, and culturally diverse environment.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment 

Work is performed in an office setting with a low-to-moderate noise level; employee will need to utilize their personal vehicle for travel to and from meetings outside the office; employee must regularly communicate by telephone, written communications, and in-person with staff, families served, partners, funders, and other professionals; occasionally lift, carry, and position objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).

The anticipated hiring range: $31.25 - $38.46 per hour

Time Base: Full-Time
