Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Assistant Athletic Trainer’s responsibilities include evaluating, preventing, and managing a wide range of sports injuries, coordinating timely medical appointments, and maintaining meticulous medical records. You will actively design and implement rehabilitation programs tailored to individual athlete needs, oversee injury recovery processes, and provide immediate emergency care during athletic events and practices. Additionally, responsibilities include ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of training facilities, managing inventory and equipment supplies effectively, and contributing to the educational development of students within the Athletic Training education programs.

  • Injury assessment and rehabilitation program design
  • Emergency medical coverage during athletic events
  • Medical records and injury documentation management
  • Coordination of athlete healthcare appointments
  • Clinical instruction within Athletic Training education programs
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology, or related field of study, or a combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  Coursework must include completion of the Board of Certification (BOC) curriculum requirements. Master's degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology, or related field of study, preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a certified athletic trainer, preferred. 
  • Athletic training experience with both women’s and men’s teams and classroom or clinical teaching experience in an accredited undergraduate curriculum, desired.
  • Classroom or clinical teaching experience in an accredited undergraduate curriculum preferred.
  • CERTIFICATIONS: Current NATABOC Certification; current CPR with AED Certifications.

  • Proficiency in injury evaluation and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Strong organizational and documentation management skills.
  • Effective communication with medical professionals and coaching staff.
  • Capability to manage emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining health and safety standards.
  • Teaching and mentoring abilities for educational programs.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
  • Classification: Athletic Trainer / 8180 / 1
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $4606 - $4797 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4213 - $8130 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.  
  • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period. 
  • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
